PROCESSES

The company endeavors to minimize the incidence of early repatriation by employing thorough pre-employment medical examination (PEME), background investigation, and inter-cultural orientation.

NYK-Fil provides morale building materials to Filipino crew via joining relievers like magazines, newspapers, game boards, and VHS tapes. From previous case of trouble onboard, the company formulates memorandum circulars to remind crew of the unfavorable consequences of bad behavior onboard.

Moreover, NYK-Fil crew undergo rigorous training at the NYK-Fil Maritime E-Training, Inc. Aside from the mandatory courses, principal sponsored training are given to NYK-Fil crew, including training allowance for those who satisfactory complete the training requirements. These trainings are geared towards skills enhancement, leadership and behavioral developments.

A systematic documentation procedure is performed by the NYK-Fil to all seafarers earmarked to join the vessel. This procedure involves contract preparation, licensing requirements according to ship's flags and seafarer's position, flight arrangements, visa and a host of other activities as required by principals, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) and the company's quality system.
